About Me

I was born in Helsinki, Finland and grew up in a family where design, color and textiles were important. As a child, I spent endless hours playing with fabric samples that my mother brought from the school where she taught dressmaking. As soon as I grew tall enough to reach the pedals of a loom, I learned to weave. Creating fabric and working with fabric have been a constant in my life.

In the 60’s and the 70’s, I lived in California, where I became interested in patchwork quilts, especially the antique ones displayed in museums. I started making my first quilts, using mainly the appliqué technique.

In the 80’s, I lived in Sydney, Australia, where I was involved in Italian fashion design, and eventually moved to Italy.  The small village by the foothills of the Dolomites, where I now live with my husband, is the perfect place for creative activity – the surrounding nature offers endless inspiration.  After weaving for many years, I started making patchwork, first traditional, then moved on to contemporary creations.

Fabric of all kinds, fibers and colors are my constant companions; a source of never-ending experimentation and satisfaction.  My works have been recognized with several prizes in national and international juried shows.
